Thank you for your interest in CED!
The Center for Economic Democracy (CED) is a US social movement building organization, growing capacity in our communities to transition capitalism into a just, sustainable and democratic economy. "Economic Democracy" means people and communities owning and deciding together how to manage our collective needs.
Based in Boston, CED's program areas include local racial and economic justice initiatives like the Solidarity Economy Initiative, Coalition for Worker Ownership and Power (COWOP), Municipal Democracy/Yes for a Better Budget, while offering training and technical assistance for economic democracy efforts across the US through our Economics for Emancipation and Movement Finance educational programs. We also fiscally sponsor the U.S.' first community-controlled investment loan fund, the Boston Ujima Project, and the immigrant empowerment co-op developer, the Centro Cooperativo de Desarrollo & Solidaridad.
CURRENT JOB OPENINGS
Capital Strategies Associate/Manager
We are looking for a new team member to help bring our Social Movement Investing (SMI) strategy to life. One of CED’s core beliefs is that those “closest to the pain must be the closest to the solutions.” Applied to impact investing and philanthropy, we believe that deep, sustainable change can only occur when oppressed communities themselves can design, own and govern the systemic solutions to their problems. SMI is CED’s capital allocation strategy for community power building and a core strategy for our programs as they scale to serve movement building led by grassroots organizations across the US. Expanding on CED’s history as a philanthropic steward, donor advisor and capital strategies innovator, SMI is situated at the intersection of grassroots organizing and impact investing. You will be part of the founding team that launches SMI into the Impact Investing and Philanthropic world (including family offices, foundations, or impact investing funds and others) to apply towards their investment strategies, portfolios, and governance structures.
